Priority Counties

Florida’s Pedestrian and Bicycle Focused Initiative

Florida is composed of 67 counties with more than 123,000 miles of public roads. Because of Florida’s size, the pedestrian and bicycle safety program focuses its efforts on the counties where the opportunities for improvement are the greatest. Florida’s Pedestrian and Bicycle Focused Initiative implements a targeted program combining high visibility education and enforcement with strategic community level communications in the 25 counties with the highest representation of crashes resulting in pedestrian and bicyclist serious and fatal injuries.

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) has seven distinct districts displayed in the map below. Click on any district to see the Focused Initiative priority counties as well as the key pedestrian and bicycle safety contacts for that area of the state.
