Alert Today Florida 300 at Daytona International Speedway

To continue spreading pedestrian and bicycle safety with the campaign “Alert Today Alive Tomorrow,” the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) served as the title sponsor of the prestigious season-opening NASCAR XFINITY Series race known as the Alert Today Florida 300, which took place on Saturday, Feb. 21 at Daytona International Speedway.

Once again, FDOT partnered with Florida native Scott Lagasse, Jr. who drove the Alert Today Alive Tomorrow Boy Scouts of America car in both the NEXTera Energy 250 and the Alert Today Florida 300, finishing third in the first race. The importance of Scott’s driving this car is to spread the message about pedestrian, bicyclist, and motorist safety in Florida through education, engineering, and enforcement.

On Sunday, Lagasse Jr. joined the Alert Today Florida team on the FDOT Main Stage in the Sprint Fan Zone for press interviews and some games. He later went to meet with NASCAR fans at the “Alert Today Alive Tomorrow” tent for autographs, while fans also learned great tips on how to stay safe when riding, walking or driving on the roads in Florida.

Scott Lagasse. Jr.

Scott Lagasse, Jr. (“Scotty”) and Alert Today Florida have teamed up to promote pedestrian and bicycle safety while delivering the Alert Today Alive Tomorrow message to fellow Floridians.

From motorcycles to Karts to open-wheel Modifieds and Late Models, Scotty has been winning races and championships consistently from the early age of 7. Scotty’s success became common around Florida during his college years and challenged him to step onto the National scene. Scotty raced a limited schedule with the National ASA Touring Series and quickly competed for wins and top qualifying honors in the ultra-competitive series, bringing him National attention and opportunities. Scotty, who has a long term partnership with the Boy Scouts of America, continues to win at all levels of racing.
